Surgery & Anesthetics
For most pet owner’s surgery or just the thought of a general anesthetic can be daunting. We are here to help guide you and make you feel comfortable from pre-surgical consults right through until your pet is recovered.
We perform many procedures but the most common are spay, neuter, lump removal, bladder surgery, foreign body removal, cruciate ligament repair and laceration repair.
We believe in performing all of our procedures with your pets comfort in mind. This is achieved by customizing all of our anesthetics. We start by giving your animal pain medication prior to surgery and once under anesthetic will perform local blocks where applicable. Once your pet is awake and ready to take home we will send you with one or more of our many available pain medications.
All of our surgeries are performed using the laser. The benefits of the laser are that there is less pain, bleeding and swelling at the surgical site. This gives the pet more comfort and can therefore improve healing times.
Most surgeries require the pet to be completely asleep, this is called general anesthesia. Some minor procedures can be done with just local freezing of the area.
All animals that are under sedation or a general anesthetic are monitored by our RegisteredVeterinary Technologist. The nurse is constantly monitoring the pets’ blood pressure, heart rate, breathing rate and temperature ensuring the safety of the pet.
If your pet requires an anesthesia or surgery and you have any questions or concerns we encourage you to contact us and we will answer any questions that you may have.
